MenuSnap Privacy Policy
Learn how MenuSnap protects your menu images, translations, and personal information.
Effective Date: November 9, 2025
Thank you for choosing MenuSnap. This Privacy Policy explains how our menu recognition and translation application handles information related to your use.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
MenuSnap does not require you to create an account and does not intentionally gather personally identifiable information. When you submit a menu image for recognition, it is temporarily uploaded to MenuSnap-operated servers so that we can process the image and return the results to your device. Translation outcomes, dish lists, and preferences remain on your device.
Automatically Collected Information
We do not automatically collect usage logs, analytics data, or device identifiers unrelated to operating the Service. Limited technical logs may be generated on our servers solely to run and secure the recognition pipeline.
How We Use Information
We process the information you provide only to deliver the Service:
- We do not build behavioral profiles or sell your data.
- We do not share menu content with advertising networks, analytics providers, or other third parties unrelated to the MenuSnap team.
- We use your uploaded images exclusively to perform recognition and translation, then return the processed results to your device.
Menu organization, currency conversion, and storage of translated menus continue to operate locally.
Data Storage and Security
- Menu images, translation history, dish lists, and saved preferences are stored locally on your device, except when you submit an image for recognition.
- Recognition requests are transmitted over encrypted channels to servers controlled by the MenuSnap team. We delete uploaded menu images shortly after processing and do not retain them for training or unrelated analysis.
- We do not send your content to third-party services that are not controlled or contracted by the MenuSnap team for the sole purpose of providing recognition.
- Any export or sharing happens through your device's native sharing options and is initiated by you.
- You can delete stored data at any time within the app or by uninstalling it.
Third-Party Services
MenuSnap does not integrate third-party analytics, advertising, or social media SDKs. If you choose to share content via the system share sheet, the receiving application handles it according to its own privacy policy. We rely on infrastructure vendors (such as cloud hosting providers) acting on our instructions to run recognition services, and they are contractually prohibited from using your data for any other purpose.
Children's Privacy
MenuSnap may be used by individuals of any age, including children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. All processing remains on the device.
Your Rights
You can:
- Access all locally stored data through the app
- Delete all data by uninstalling the app
Cookies
When you visit our website, we may use cookies to understand site usage and deliver relevant content. The MenuSnap application itself does not deploy third-party tracking cookies.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy and will post new versions on this page with an updated "Effective Date." Continued use of the application after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
